Establishment and Inaugural Print Edition (2012)
Plumula : Berkala Ilmiah Agroteknologi was established by the Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) "Veteran" Jawa Timur. The journal officially began its publication journey with its inaugural print edition in 2012. Since its establishment, the journal has served as a scholarly platform for disseminating theoretical and empirical research concerning the development and dynamics of agricultural science and agrotechnology. Its mission is to contribute to academic discussions, agricultural research, and the development of knowledge relevant to the advancement of the agricultural sector in Indonesia. As the founding organization and publisher, UPN "Veteran" Jawa Timur provides the institutional framework under which Plumula operates.
Transition to Online Publication (2017) and Domain Migration (2019)
To broaden its accessibility and scientific reach, Plumula initiated its online publication in 2017. Initially, the journal's digital issues and online operations were hosted on the university's central e-journal portal (ejournal.upnjatim.ac.id). As part of its continuous development and to establish a more dedicated digital presence for its authors and readers, the journal subsequently migrated its operations and archive to its current official domain: https://plumula.upnjatim.ac.id since 2019. This dedicated online archive provides a comprehensive digital record of the published literature and enables easy access to previous and current issues.
Publication Frequency
Plumula : Berkala Ilmiah Agroteknologi has adopted a regular publication schedule of two issues per year, released in January and July. This publication frequency is documented on the About the Journal page and is consistently reflected in the journal's digital archives.
National Accreditation and Indexing The journal's archives record its national accreditation achievement at the SINTA 4 level. This accreditation represents a documented milestone in Plumula's development within Indonesia's national scholarly publishing and research evaluation system. Currently, the journal's Abstracting and Indexing page lists services such as the Science and Technology Index (SINTA), GARUDA, Google Scholar, and other indexing databases that support the discoverability of articles and the visibility of its scholarly output.
Development of Editorial Management and Publishing Policies As part of its publishing operations, Plumula maintains a publicly accessible editorial team list, including the Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editors, and Editorial Board members. The published editorial structure identifies the scholars responsible for the editorial oversight and management of submitted manuscripts.
The journal's editorial policies establish a peer-review process in which manuscripts are assessed by at least two reviewers with relevant expertise. The review model employed is blind peer review, where editorial decisions are based on academic merit, including relevance, originality, validity, significance, and readability.
Plumula also publishes its ethical framework for editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher. The principles outlined in the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement cover editorial independence, confidentiality, competing interests, publication decisions, plagiarism management, and responses to suspected scientific misconduct.
Digital Publishing Infrastructure
Plumula is managed using Open Journal Systems (OJS), an open-source journal management and publishing platform developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP). This platform supports the journal's online manuscript submission workflow, editorial processes, publication, and access to published articles.
The journal is officially registered under P-ISSN 2089-8010 for its print edition (established in 2012) and E-ISSN 2614-0233 for its online edition (established in 2018). It also utilizes the DOI prefix 10.33005/plumula to support the persistent identification of its articles. These identifiers are used consistently in its publication metadata.
Open Access, Publication Charges, and Copyright
Plumula provides immediate open access to its published content, allowing readers to read and download scholarly articles without subscription fees, in alignment with the journal's Open Access Policy. Regarding Article Processing Charges (APC) or submission fees, authors are advised to refer to the latest submission instructions on the website.
